A few days ago, Janis had a summer bug or âsomething.â I am right there with her. COVID in December 2020, first round of Moderna, and then booster. COVID hit me again this past Sunday, although not as badly as 2020.
Anyone else enjoying the plague a second or third time?
When we loaded supplies for a patrol on a submarine some items like cookies and nuts seemed to disappear in transient from the top of the ship to stores.
Been quite a few years since I last heard that phrase. Kind of like saying something being sold very cheap is that âit fell off the back of the truckâ
Would pick up imports from the docks for the company I used to work for and it was excepted that the shipment would be short some products, so janis must know some dock workers.
I saw the neopolitian oreo cookies yesterday. Couldnât wait to try them. Not my cuppa. The artificial strawberry flavor left an aftertaste. Now looking for someone to give the rest to. Most likely social hour at church. Wish theyâd bring back the chocolate chip cookie dough oreos. Now THOSE were good!
My dad used to take me down to Navy Pier to watch the freighters getting unloaded. One day there was a shipâs cargo of Johnny Walker and fireworks. The longshoremen were all wearing overalls that were about 3 sizes too large and were helping themselves to the contents of some crates that had oh, so accidently been torn open by their grappling hooksâŠ
He never took me back to the pier.
(Obviously this was back before the age of shiping containers)
iâll add that what didnât fit inside those longshoremenâs oversized coveralls was liberated by the shipâs captain & mates.

Thereâs nothing like fresh shrinkage on grocery shopping day. Itâs like having your own food sampling station at home.
