Giving health tips can be hazardous to your health. Now keep a straight face and get out of here.

Horace to the lawyer who wrote that warning:

“Take Three Stooges and call me in the morning.”

Ask your doctor if “Dark Side of the Horse” is right for you.

In today’s society, a disclaimer is usually needed.

Humor can have serious side effects

Be careful drinking while experiencing humor as it can cause fluids to be expelled through the nasal passages

Do not take if you are allergic to comedy or laughter.

Read all instructions for possible comic strip interactions. Reading Garfield or Family Circus within one hour of Dark of the Horse may result in severe comics letdown.

If there is anywhere you can overdose on surrealism, it’s here.

The disclaimer makes Horace sound more like a Quack than a Horse Doctor.

(Not seen) Long list of possible comedy side effects.

I once nearly killed one of my brothers with comedy.

When we were small, I had to be responsible and the only way I had any control over them was to tell funny stories. I knew how to tickle their funny bones.

In my mid-30s I was home on a visit along with my three brothers. My youngest brother was telling about his “adventures” in Dungeons and Dragons. I was riffing off his descriptions and my brothers were laughing harder and harder. We didn’t know my brother Rob was in trouble, although he was getting redder and redder, until he fell down on the floor, because he had been unable to catch his breath.

He was mad at me about it for years, thinking I had done it deliberately. So the lesson is: comedy can be dangerous. Use it responsibly.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has not determined that laughter has actual health benefits…it’s all in your head.
