This is the third time in two short weeks, that we’ve found what we need online. The brick-n-mortar stores talk big about “overstock” & “surplus” but, we had to buy online, b/c three stores didn’t have what we needed. So, yes, all of us probably have packages arriving almost every day, b/c necessities are just that, necessities, as in needed for everyday living! And physical stores are getting increasingly bad at having what you need, when you need it.
The delivery guy rings the bell? We are lucky if packages are not left at the bottom of our driveway (it a whopping 15 feet from the front door and we live on a 4 lane road across the street from a bus stop) – never ring the bell. Then again, about 90% of what is delivered to us is for someone else – as far away as two blocks at least.
We don’t order things unless we absolutely need it and cannot get otherwise buy it. We do not have luck with items being delivered at all. Mid March 2020 we ordered food delivered from BJs – mostly meat items that we needed. Husband had a coupon for no fee for the delivery. Woman shopped for us and delivered the items. After the order was accepted we started getting text messages from her that items were out of stock and offering alternatives – in one case for a meat item we were offered a bag of ice. The only meat we got was a package of 7.5 lbs of the fattiest stew meat we have ever seen. We had asked for delivery to be made to the front door on the right – they were made to the one on the left – the one which always has ants on it no matter what we do. The store had been out of about half the items. Then husband spent parts of 2 days online getting refunds for the items which had NOT been delivered.
So we tried ordering from Walmart – which around here means from main Walmart as their local stores do not deliver. We had items delivered over a space of 4 days from warehouses across the country – MA to CA. 60% of the cans were dented – some almost in half. Boxes (such as cake mixes) looked as if someone had jumped up and down on them. 2 plastic bottle of cooking oil had the necks/caps pushed into the bottles (and we are about to finish the first bottle – only came in a 2 pack).
Ordered a CO detector for our RV – made sure it was the RV version not the marine version. Marine version came – had to pay to ship it back for refund – paid shipping to us and shipping back – to Canada.

It seems strange here when something doesn’t show up. Of course that may be overstating it a little. Just seems like it.

No one rings the doorbell when they drop off packages on our porch, but we sometimes get a notifying email.

Ironic. I’m online now trying to find a shirt that matches the color of my house.

I use Amazon for deliveries, but I am starting to think their prices are higher than they were compared to real stores.

Sorry Arlo, we’ve become far too programed to this consumer brainwashing.

With interactive TV you will buy stuff directly during the ad, no phone, tablet or (other) computer.
