So who’s coaching varsity volleyball? Gil? And is Keri going to be on the varsity as a freshman? Very confusing today.

Unlike the last writer, where Gil seemed to be a casual observer, Henry is really makin’ Gil work for his money now.

P-1: As expected, if there are young girls stretching & jumping, Gil will be close by. The mystery is where Kaz is.

Coaches Held Hostage: Coach Kaz, Day 74 of 95. I’m really stretching here, but 74 is the number of the Federalist Papers dealing with placing the power of pardon in the President. That came up during discussions of whether Trump would be able to pardon himself, though I admit I never read it then.

Tomorrow, Cami takes over all coaching for two weeks after Gil injures his eye when it gets hit by his whistle

I’ve been reading this strip for decades, but Gil coaching volleyball?!? I’m so out! :)

Wait, what do you mean that Mimi is up north? I was just with her last- oh, oh, wait, I get it. Never mind. Yep, I haven’t seen her lately because she’s up north. Got it!

It’s possible the current storyline is supposed to depict Milford High and the Thorps coming out of Covid. Maybe Mimi, who has been a Milford High teacher and coach, stayed home with her kids during Covid. This could explain how emotional she and the son were on the first day of school. Maybe she’s not sure she wants to go back to school or to Gil, so looking after her mom is a pretext for the leave of absence.

I mean, we’re used to Gil rarely showing up for football practice or games, but ignoring his team so that he can fap volleyballs around with the JV team seems even more irresponsible. And speaking of irresponsible, it would be irresponsible of you to not read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
