Ahhh…“The Fantasticks.” I sung that one in my college aural skills class.

When I think of September, I think of Earth, Wind, and Fire.

I remember that musical with a kind of strange attitude. I REALLY liked it. Really really. But I was a young adult awash in hormones and enamored of writing bad poetry. When I finished growing up, I recognized it as a sequence of clichés with… not too bad… music. But I still remember REALLY liking it. Strange.

She’s trying not to remember that kind of September. He just won’t let it happen.

I would have loved to be a daughter taken to the hardware store by her dad. “Who has bread doesn’t have teeth” and viceversa. :-)

About September, it reminds of “September song”, that I have on one of my Amazon Prime playlist, by Frank Sinatra :-)

Autumn, The nesting ritual. Time to clean up, paint up, fix up . . . and to accumulate tools and fasteners and new gadgets that will still be there when one tries to sell the house.

The opening line to The Temptations’ “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” also comes to mind.

Oh come on, that song is Fantastik!

It’s not kind to remember a trying September.

I’m no great dancer but with Earth Wind and Fire you just have to move your body with joy.

Lots of good “September” songs, none of which I suspect she wants to hear in the hardware store. Maybe her father should go the other direction with “Green. Green”.

It doesn’t mention September explicitly, but this discussion has put me in mind of Chad and Jeremy’s “A Summer Song.”

Does anyone do, “Try to remember the kind of …,” with November?

Used to play “September in the Rain” in high school dance band. It’s kind of peppy.

we looked at each other in the same way then…but I can’t remember where or when…

Just wait until you’re a teenager, kid, at which point nothing at all your parents ever do WON’T be embarrassing. The only good news is that eventually you’ll get over it.

It’s late September and I really should be back at school.
