Yesterday, a city police officer was standing around our library. He was wearing body armor. Is that standard police dress now?

On a serious note, one can purchase backpack-sized inserts made of kevlar or a ceramic polymer which enable a book-bag to serve as a bullet-proof shield at least as protective as “body armor”. Of course, one must be able to pick up that shield at a moment’s notice, or be wearing it already, in order for it to be effective as something to crouch behind for shelter. Nonetheless, cautious parents may wish to provide their youngsters with such protection and a sense of security.

OK, enough of this story arc. Let’s get back to what comics are supposed to do, make us feel GOOD and give us a little break from reality.

We have an armed deputy at every school in our county and I thank them every chance I get.

Zoe should stay home. She’s in far more danger from the anti-family crap being taught in the school than she is from any bullet.

The sad reality is that there exists a reason for this to even be invented and sold.

Enough. This arc will accomplish nothing except to annoy people who realize that there aren’t guaranteed solutions to this still relatively rare problem.

There was another school shooting, in California this time, on Thursday so this weeks arc is timely and unfortunely needed.

The killers are wearing it, might as well add it to the school supplies list for students.
