Linus, if you sat out here every year waiting for him to bring toys, has he ever showed?

Hey Linus. After a year or two, or more, don’t you think your story is getting a little seedy by now? It is kind of a tough rind to sell to people you know.

I guess the 1975 Linus/Peppermint Patty Great Pumpkin arc strip mentioning Veteran’s Day may be on hold until November 11, 2022 – Two weeks from this Friday.

So, it seems not only is Linus risking all by claiming the coming of the Great Pumpkin, but has beheld it before. For us adult doubters, I can only wonder what exactly he saw.

These two kids are very imaginary! It’s too bad others can’t share in the fun of good imagination like this. All it looks like is a couple of nuts carrying on in the minds of realists.

I’d have to gather from “The Great Pumpkin” series of spoofs that Schultz had some issues with organized religion.

No wonder the Great Pumpkin never shows up.

I haven’t said this since commenting on these strips, but I feel now is an appropriate time to do so: good grief.

I wonder if we’re watching how the world’s major religions got their start.

I bet if Patty laid in the patch and covered herself from the neck down in leaves and vines she’d be invisible.

Lots of detail on this one. Schultz used minimalism to focus on an idea or detail to create a mood when he needed. Very effective and so subtle.

If the Great Pumpkin doesn’t show up until Halloween, why are they out here a week before then?

I still don’t get why ‘sincerity’ is the main criterion for the Great Pumpkin.

Who &/or what is responsible for Linus’s belief in The Great Pumpkin?

I don’t understand how a normally sensible boy like Linus became a Great Pumpkin believer.
