Now that’s something I can’t understand, namely, coming late to work. I’ve always arrived early. In my last job, I was often the guy that opened the store at around 7 AM. That gave me the time to get the stock work out of the way before working the floor.
I was rarely late and if I were it was because of circumstances beyond my control. As noted above, things happen and when I was a shift supervisor I tried to be flexible and understanding; there were a few folks who were intractably late and I was told once, “this whole being at work at a certain time doesn’t work for me.” He had his feelings hurt when he was terminated by the city because of his chronic lateness.
I have a driver working for me who was late for his route EVERY day. Until I told him, “Now’s not a good time to be looking for a new job.” He’s been on time for two weeks so far!
Something similar happened on “So Help Me Todd”. Marcia Gay Harden was the guy’s brilliant lawyer, helping only because he was her loser son’s former friend. He won’t do it again. Then all evidence pointed to him for a robbery. It was hopeless but Todd figured it out.
