Anticipating complaints about plot jumping again, I think Henry’s doing a good job showing how 2022 youth are doing and that a younger audience will relate well to it.

If you’re one of those thinking it’s going too far or jumping around too much, I respectfully disagree. This is indeed how it seems to be, in far too many places.

My stepson’s best friend, age 19, OD’d and died from having taken a fentayl-laced Percocet about nine months ago. Why today’s drug dealers seemingly actively want to kill their customers by tricking them into ODs is a question for the psychiatrists, but it’s a real thing.

Back during the early days of the War on Drugs, dealers were way more likely to do it the other way around…sell powdered sugar to suckers and tell them it was cocaine.

What’s the deal with these socially conscious, “woke” kids and their single use water bottles? Don’t they know there’s a plastic island of that crap floating around in the ocean? Sheesh Henry, when are we going to jump on that bandwagon for at least a three day story arc?

I get Need Coffee’s comments on the strips’ relevancy to today but the writer has to ask, “who is my audience?” Is this style of writing geared to his biggest audience? I tend to think not. This is why I totally agree with Lawrence. This has become more of a one panel commentary than a narrative story. Waiting until the end of the year, or whenever, to tie it all together makes no sense to me. I’m quite OK exploring teen issues so lets stick with it for 5-8 strips, not hop all around like it does.

Coaches Held Hostage: Coach Kaz, Day 35. The Constitution requires the President to be 35 years old, which back in 1787 was pretty close to the average life span for a white male of 38. If you actually made it to 60, your life expectancy was 75. Interesting that today at age 72, my life expectancy is only 84.

I’m positive that at 35 I was incredibly unready for the responsibilities of being President since I was having enough trouble being a husband, father, and attorney at that age. Even now with all the experience an additional 37 years has brought me, there’s no way I’m prepared for a job like that. I honestly don’t understand how anyone ever thinks that he or she is prepared for the responsibility of that office. I guess some grow into it and I know some never do, but I doubt that many are ready on their first Inauguration Day.

Three overdoses, that’s not good. Unless they’re overdosing on Mopped Up Thorp. If so, what a way to go!

Ah, so maybe what we missed was that it wasn’t three Milford students that OD’d this semester, but Allyson did three separate times. And the third was obviously the last. If so, sad she couldn’t get help or refused it after it happening twice.
