I’ve been reading GF for years, and I think I get it. Now I read it somewhat like Calvin and Hobbes meets Hitchcock where Rob is psychotic, and Bucky and ol’ Satch are stuffed animals he’s had since childhood. My inner Freud and Jung are working out some details, which I will spare you (no need to thank me for that), but a theory is developing (I’ll spare you that too, but my wife is in for a lulu of a time, should she stay for the ending, which, alas, is not likely).
Why is Bucky generally correct? Because he at least tries to articulate his position, no matter how far fetched it might seem to some. All Rob does is insult, which suggests that he has no position to defend. A sign of the times……
“It’s hard to have an academic discussion with [Bucky].” Rob, Rob, Rob, are you new around here?Rob usually stumbles into “discussions” with Bucky, but to day he wants to continue one?
My second wife would “jump context” all the time and she was completely unable (presumably up to and including under threat of death) to answer a direct question. I swear, if I had come in shouting, “Fire, fire!”, she would ask me why I was being so loud. Later, I realized these are all narcisistic symptoms.
It’s like when I ask my students to make a connection. I sometimes reply that although it is a connected topic, it was better left as a private thought. Next time I will reply, “Knife-wielding monkeys.”

British tv show from the ’70’s called Connections that does just that. How one fact or innovation lead to another.

From the look in Bucky’s eyes he is either having a kitty-thyroid issue, or just wildly manic?

Bucky’s mind is like the bullet train, whose tracks are laid out like a spider’s web.
