Classic quid pro quo. Sign this clown and he’ll make Walden millions of dollars. What he’ll get in return is publicity for a potential career in the NFL, plus a quality education*.

I would hope that once BD’s daughter grew up, his perspective on this would have changed, at least the part about jocks forcing themselves on girls and then the university protecting the jocks.

I would have expected better from a former state police officer.

It’s kinda refreshing how attitudes have changed since this first ran when the date rape line was just another part of the joke. Trudeau was always being sardonic of course, but most folks just “laughed at the jock getting away with stuff.”

    Let’s hope he doesn’t read section:13.

That’s the one that says ‘’you get hurt, goodbye’’.

Walden as a small liberal arts college (such as Williams) and likely a Division III school where competition is not much better than a top high school program. There are currently 5 Division III players in NFL. No TV or 100,000 seat stadiums.

We have to protect that poor boy from the consequences of his own actions! Otherwise how can he go out onto the field and let us feel superior to fans of the other team?!

No alarm bells there. Just get the kid to school and let the lawyers handle the rest.

It’s just a joke. A comic strip going for a laugh. Sure sports have some shaded people in it, but so do all professions. But going off the deep end and thinking that we’re heading toward total annihilation eliminates any possibility of putting a smile on our faces or a laugh in our throats. Lighten up. Enjoy the strip for what it is instead of trying to put some deep meaning into it.

I’m pretty sure that my small midwestern liberal-arts college had a football team, but I never knew anyone who ever went to a game. But, long after my graduation, the college apparently became a powerhouse on the Jeopardy tv show. Go figure. I don’t know if the members of the college Jeopardy team lord it around the school the way football players allegedly do at other colleges.

Pardon a variation on an old Hee-Haw gag: “Coach, I get busted when I do this!” “Well, don’t do that!"

BD says ’we’d set you up with a top legal team + publicist to get out your side of the story.’ He never said there would not be consequences for doing those things. Legal teams deal with facts, not ’’how did you FEEL when doing these things"
