On earth in the northern hemisphere, I always look for Polaris.
Or as they told us in Seattle, North is the side the moss is growing on.
Just load Google Maps and enjoy the trip. You might not get to your destination, but you might enjoy the side trips.

GPS and an old fashion compass probably aren’t much help out there.
It may look red to us, but to anything else??
