Earl what a horrible thing to say to a kid. Nelson is gonna need therapy now.

Previously, Nelson imagined that he would look like Clint Eastwood did when he was 70.

If I recall correctly, kids Nelson’s age have a really hard time imagining being in middle school, much less grown up, aged, retired, being grandparents.

Sad but true

Great Gramps… you broke him

yesterday he talked about death,

today he’s going on about aging

is Earl trying to prepare Nelson for the inevitable?

No kid ever thinks about getting old!

Sad but true, sometimes when I look in the mirror, my Grandfather’s face from 50 years ago is looking back.

Say it isn’t true, Grampa.

He’s trying to get over the shock!

Sigh..! I guess the old saying " Mirror , Mirror , on the wall you are your Mother after all ! " now applies to both sexes !

Turn around … turn around … turn around … and you’re an old man shuffling out of the front door.

Perfect look of panic on Nelson’s face!

You shouldn’t scare kids like that.

OMG……. he’s in SHOCK…… CALL 911 (LOL)

It’s funny, and a bit discouraging how closely I’m following my father’s health history.

No worries. Nelson will be laughing in a minute when Earl breaks the arm of that chair and lands on the floor.

One day, after quizzes were handed in, my students and I were having a game of student-teacher put down to lighten the day. Lots of laughs.

They nailed me with you’re bald-headed my reply it’s just a fire break at the top of my head,

Next you’re fat, reply, teeny little bulge,

then you’re bow-legged reply Ouch!

and you’re old. reply I am 50. Not old just seasoned

Then I gave them a look at the future. I said, look very carefully at your oldest relative whom you most resemble and remember it. One day years from now you will look in the mirror and see that person staring back at you and wonder what happened. Then you will see my face over your shoulder and I will be laughing.

That was 37 years ago and I’ll bet some of them are remembering that day even as you read this. And I am still laughing.

Another ageist joke. How terrible! People get old!

Sad, but true.

There is some truth to this. Look at your mother in law…that is what your wife will look like when she hits that age. Truth.

My youngest Grandson (8 Months) was visiting at Christmas time. I came home from work the day they got here. He took one look at me and started balling his eyes out! My daughter said he has never done anything like that before. I said, “He probably got a glimpse of his future self and it scared the hell outta him!” ;) We’re best buds now but that was funny!

Poor kid.

He lost Nelson this time……….

DON’T SCARE THE YOUNG’UN!!

For pete’s sake, there’s nothing wrong with getting old and showing our years. If our kids find the process frightening, it’s because our culture taught them that old means decrepit and ugly. Fiddlesticks. I think Earl is a cutie.

Yeah. I thought I’d never get old. Now I’m there but I don’t feel old.

Well, Nelson, now you know to take better care of yourself so you won’t look quite like Earl.

If you wonder what your wife/girlfriend will look like later on in life, just look at her mother.

How many sleepless night will that cause for the kid?

My Grandpa Miller was an introvert. Whenever family came over, he’d go hide. But us kids would go find him and he would always make us kids laugh before we headed out to play, walk the forest, go fishing, etc. My Grandpa Bilbrey liked to sit and visit whenever family came over. In that regard, I’m more like Grandpa Bilbrey, while some of my brothers are more like Grandpa Miller.
