Of all the guest artists who have done these Minit Mysteries, John Lucas may come closest to a style that fits the strip as we’ve been used to, but it still feels to me like a MAD magazine spoof when done in this style. At least we can read it today.
“George Reeds who played Ultraman” is obviously an analogue of “George Reeves who played Superman,” but the explanation of Reeves’ death remains controversial to this day.If anyone still didn’t see yesterday’s strip correctly, it ran before here:
I don’t get it…in Minit Mysteries Tracy and Sam can get access to an unmarked car. Yet in the regular story lines, they are always in a police car with a siren on top. Somebody help me try to make sense of this.
Without going to IMDB, I thought George Reeves only other major success (before Superman,) was his role in Gone With The Wind. (I’m sure someone will know his filmography, and, correct me, if I’m wrong.)
How would Dick Tracy know what kind of home George Reeds preferred? Is Dick playing Big Shot for Sam like: Yeah, me and George were tight! He was my wingman when we went out – pulling the dogs so I would wind up with the babe of the group. Guess that’s over with now
We’d BETTER get back to Dekko, because there’s about a dozen things left unfulfilled.Hey,this Stan&Ollie fan is still trying to solve the T helma Todd case.
Hey, everybody. Someone tipped me to the fact they were rerunning my guest stint. So, I was wondering if anyone new if they were also running in the actual papers. I asked a buddy in the chicago area to save them for me the last time, but he’s a bit of a flake and didn’t come through. So, I was hoping to get them in print.
John Lucas’s art is a bit jarring, but gritty and fitting if one can get used to it. The RL mystery behind the story, the death of George Reeves allegedly by suicide, is worth further consideration, and this Minit Mystery would be good were it not unsolvable by readers….
But, all that said and granted, I still would prefer to be seeing a clean ending to the Art Dekko story, with loose ends neatly tied!
I wonder why this website allows one of its visitors to use a derogatory ethnic slur for Italians, e.g., "Gweedo, " for a user name. It’s particularly offensive to me and my Italian heritage. And the fact that the Tribune Content Agency permits its vulgar usage is particularly foul and suspect. I guess the merits of good taste do not amount to much on the Dick Tracy fan web page.
Tracy jumped to his feet after gathering his wits!
“That explosion came from the back of the theater!” he quickly surmised.
“Everyone leave in an orderly pace!” he shouted out loud to the crowd as they were running panicky to the exits.
“Pop Pop, I can’t find Crystal! She left a few minutes before the explosion!”
Tracy looked down to see Honeymoon with a frightened look on her face.
“Don’t worry Honeymoon, she’s probably already out of the theater. Go outside, I’m sure you’ll find her!”
Tracy waited until Honeymoon got outside before heading back towards the explosion sight. Arriving at the Theaters main office he saw that a small explosive was used to blow open the front door.
“The money!” Tracy blurted out, realizing that the ticket money was being kept inside the office.
“It’s gone, it’s all gone! Some dirty Pig on Wheels took off with my money!”
As Tracy, feeling distraught and angry began hitting the wall he suddenly heard a voice behind him.
“Come with me!”
Turning around he saw it was Bleeder standing in front of him.
“You did this!” Tracy shouth as he started to run towards the bookie.
He stopped in his tracks, however when Bleeder, pulled out his gun.
“Come with me”, he said, “Doctor Fix wants to talk to you!”

Lucas definitely drew a chin and a half on Tracy. Nice job on that leprechaun too.

“Ye Gads!”, Tracy thought as he pondered what had happened the night before.
“I can’t believe the ref threw that flag on such a ticky tacky call!”
Tracy was upset because he didn’t know how he’d pay “Bleeder” the bookie for his lost bet on the Eagles.
“Hello Richard, splendid day, is it not!”, said Vitamin as he barged unto Tracy’s office unannounced!
“What does that old bag of fart want now?” Tracy sighed to himself as he dreaded hearing about Vitamin’s latest Viagra adventure!
“Richard my boy, last night’s action should become material for my next playhouse show!”
“That’s It!” Tracy exclaimed, as a brilliant idea how to get the money he needed popped into his head.
“Vitamin, we’re going to put on a show, The MCU Follies”!
Next installment soon, very soon

Wish they would not slap a 2023 date on a strip that ran in 2018.

Tracy Meets Doctor Fix
Chapter Seven
