How could I have missed this comic strip all my life? I just went back through the past two years and I LOVE it! So clever and beautifully drawn.

Am I getting this? Are we at a medical examiner’s office?

This is a reference to the great movie, “Jaws”. The shark expert, Hooper (played brilliantly by Richard Dreyfuss) cuts open a shark caught by the locals thinking it’s the one that attacked the woman at the beginning of the movie. Chief Brody (the police officer of Amity- also played brilliantly by Roy Scheider) is in the room when Hooper is dissecting the shark. Hooper explains away all the townspeople who claimed the woman died from anything but a shark. He says, “It was not an accident, or a boat propeller, etc, but it was a shark, a big one and not the one we caught”.

Was the shark a dogfish by any chance?

My wife had a Samoyed puppy who shredded an entire 2 seater couch one day while she was at work.

It looks to me like his back-up toupee. It matches his hair well.

The initials could say it all Jack Ripper or Jack Russell

I think “Jack the Ripper” is an excellent name for a puppy
