Speaking louder doesn’t help, either.

He should have given them the tape measure but it wasn’t metric.

“Di cosa sta parlando” or “cosa sta dicendo”: “cosa sta parlando” is wrong; but again, this is modern Italian, not XII century’s Volgare.And Monty is not a “ragazzo” anymore.

Monty did better than me! The only Italian I know is “pizza”, “spaghetti” and “datsa spysee meatballa!”

Twelfth century Italians wouldn’t be able to understand a native speaker speaking modern Italian, most likely. Even when time travel stories try to do something about the language barrier without handwaving it, they always forget how quickly even the same language changes over centuries. We would neither understand nor be understood by anybody speaking medieval English.

But it keeps great time!

Putting an ‘a’ on the end of every word is not speaking Italian.

Sigh. We could have avoided that shameful leaning tower and the tourists who buy the models and then go around the world showing them and saying “Look how dumb the Italians are, they aren’t even capable of building towers”.

Well, that’s some really slanted italian.

The city of Pisa’s economy would take a real hit if that tower were straightened.

I’m pretty sure if the Tower didn’t lean it would have just been another building in the city, it might even have been torn down for a more recent construction project in the intervening time.

For those who don’t speak Italian, first guy says "Do you know what this dude is talking about? Second guy answers “This dude, he crazy!”
