The revenge against Little Rabbit Foo Foo.

A hare-raising tale.

I had to look at this one 3 times before it got through to me. Now we all have an ear worm.

One of the more popular versions of the song according to Wikipedia:

“Little Bunny Foo Foo, / Hopping through the forest, / Scooping up the field mice, / And bopping them on the head.”

Somehow I never heard this during my childhood, but I’ve heard my former-school-teacher GF sing a parody version involving “biting off their heads and sucking out their insides”.

Down came the Good Fairy and she said: “Little Bunny Foo-Foo, I don’t want to see you picking up the field mice and bop them on the head.”

“I gave you three chances, and now I’m going to turn you into a Goon.”

…and the morale of this story is…Hare today, Goon tomorrow!

In one Shari Lewis version, with Lambchop as the fairy now watching, Bunny first switches to patting them on the head. Next day she picks up two and rubs their heads together. ZAP. She gets banished from the forest in this version.

Never heard about Bunny Foo Foo, I learn a lot here on Go Comics!

Little Bunny Foo Foo, the Foo Bird, and Benny the Urn were all stories I told my charges at summer camp. Ran into an adult version of one of those kids twenty-five years later, and he told me all three jokes.

Hare today…Goon tomorrow!

The whole story behind this children’s song just got turned on its head.

That was a standard at a music class my preschoolers attended. Then at one point, she decided it was “too violent” and changed it to “tickling them on the tummy.” I objected.

Hmm. Could have gone my whole life without having to be informed about Little Bunny Foo-Foo.

I had a laugh out loud moment with this one. I learned the song as a child, along with all the motions, and then taught it to my kids and grandkids. One of the best in a long time. And I’m still grinning…

Scott, you must be ancient. I first heard this story back when I was in 9th grade, and no, I won’t say how long ago that was.

I taught my nieces & nephew this when they were little. (I learned it from MY aunt . )

i’m curious how old this song is ‘cause i’d never heard of it ’til this moment…

I first heard Little Bunny Foo Foo in the early 70s, when a college girlfriend sang it. I think she had learned it while she was a youth camp counselor the previous summer.

And the moral of the story is: hare today, goon tomorrow!

I’m in my mid 50s and I’ve never heard of this song.

Wait till Foo-foo’s friend “The Carpenter’s Wife” hears about this…
