I got an invite to my high school reunion. Why would anyone drive 1500 miles and sleep in a motel bed to talk to people I barely remember and wouldn’t have walked across the street to talk to 60 years ago?
Way back at the start of social media pages, I observed how so people were wasting huge amounts of time on it and were often being nasty. I decided to never sign on to any of them.
I have a FB page that my wife looks at for grandkid pix. We get creeped out when we discuss something innocuous, like we need to clean the oven, and then she tells me FB posts a story about cleaning the oven. This is happening more and more lately.
Almost all of my FB friends are people I know or have known in the real world. Some are high school classmates with whom I had been out of touch since graduation. It’s neat to chat with them on line after all those years!

That happened to me on Twitter and Dreamwidth. I won’t set myself up for more abuse. I blocked them.

The only time I signed on to Facebook I kept getting requests from people I had no desire to talk to. Cancelled my membership after two weeks.

How about: “You were a total jerk as a student in my class, but thanks for the Facebook friend request”

All about the numbers.

I try not to “friend” anyone I don’t actually call a friend. I don’t have a very big Facebook footprint. Small, but elite.

There are those that like to pad their numbers….Look at all of the friends I’ve got!

I haven’t had any schoolmates I remember or recognize try to get in touch with me. It’s probably a good thing.

It’s not about you, its about bragging about how many friends they have on FB.

I’ve gotten a few like that.
My favorite though, was the 8invitation to a High School Reunion of the Wrong Graduating Class.
