I’m more intelligent than my GPS; I used it recently to find my way to two post offices, and both times it tried to make me park in the back lot where the mail trucks are.

Rat nails it. But over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion that excessive intelligence is actually maladaptive. The average IQ is stuck where it is for a reason. I’ll leave it to others to discuss why…

That was a very popular notion in he USA during the Progressive Era, and got more popular in parts of Europe in the 1930s and ’40s.

It ultimately turned out rather badly in both places, especially in Europe.

You probably heard about the Europe thing, but not the Progressive Era thing. For some reason, that part of history gets neglected. Probably has something to do with the politics of many of the government employees who do the teaching.

I think I’m intelligent, but that’s just my opinion.

If public schools were a priority for most states, students would learn to make the best of whatever intelligence they possess.

That’s the $64.000 question: What can we do about regular intelligence? Most Americans are happily conditioned to assume that only digital technologies deliver real-world solutions to human problems. If we were to measure their regular intelligence, I’d say it’d be around IQ 75 or 80, and dropping.

Try reading books, learning how to think critically, and especially don’t listen to popular news, any politician, or social media.

Regular intelligence depends. How good is the school system in teaching actual useful information?

Doing away with the teacher’s unions would be a good start towards raising intelligence levels.

The “Smart Phone” and Social Media have had the most deleterious effects on the ability for young and old to concentrate, comprehend, and develop intelligence, period. Constant notifications to be looked at with worthless content, along with it being mostly photos or videos of which take little if any intelligence or discipline. Just emotional stimulation. It is no surprise that their are so many ADD and OCD’s today. Combine this with Public Education infected with the same, along with parents at home being phone zombies, then there you have it in general. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
