Again, a larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #1483 (6/29/16) (June 7, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 7 works by this artist have been used here (8 times total, including this Throwback Thursday), the June 29, 2016, strip being its first use. GoComics has deactivated the hyperlinks and removed the new lines in my comment there; but, perhaps the text remains informative. The June 26, 2018, strip has the prior by him.
Reminds me of a a young Thornton Melon (Rodney Dangerfield in “Back to School”). Thornton Melon : [sees a naked women taking a shower after opening the curtain mistakenly] … I didn’t see anything.
[opens the curtain again]
Thornton Melon : … Honey, you’re perfect. Check out the IMDB listing for that classic for more one-liners.
This is another of several Masterpieces for which all of my original Comments (and all but one of my Replies to others) were deleted by GoComics and not later restored. About a year later I’ve decided to do my best to recreate at least one response for each of those paintings:
/// Júnior set up this painting called “Boy” with a young model in his employ.
The lad took careful aim
and then burst through the frame
of his old portrait, beaming with joy.
/// The model was not being coy;
it had pleased him no end to destroy
the painter’s last work.
He had looked like a jerk
with a gap-toothed grin sure to annoy.
/// The boy, thought, "There’s no point getting Mad
