Well if you’d buy him some animation software he’d take way less time.

Some of us did yard work to get our allowances. Not that there was much of it: A 20 by 30 ish lawn. It was a hand-pushed reel mower though, and you had to really get up some speed before you hit the spots that had heavy clover! Then there was “pulling tumbleweed seedlings” which paid a penny for every 10. I made more than $2.50 doing that one year when they were particularly thick. Yes, that’s 2500 seedlings. It took me several days, and talk about BORING! Oh, and our allowances were “A nickle for each year of your age, every Saturday”, which means that at age 10 I got a little more than five weeks worth of allowances for that task. Other required tasks: Wash the cars (two chores, for older kids), wash the dishes, rinse and dry the dishes (yeah: Two chores there)… everybody cleared their own place at the table. And sometimes sweep out the garage and driveway. Also, the “do what you’re told” chore, which was usually pretty annoying.

Hats off to the cartoonist. That’s a lot of drawing.

In the late 60’s, around twelve years old, I made a number of flip movies. Used a pack of blank index cards. With a small table lamp on the floor, and sitting cross-legged with a plate glass as a “desk”, I could trace the elements from each prior picture and modify where needed. Never a full length feature, though.
