No, Hoss, you’re misreading the breed’s name. These animals were bred to retrieve gold,or golden things. Maybe if you got her a dark yellow-colored ball.

Didn’t work with our black Labrador retriever, either. Never learned to fetch, never liked to go swimming. I think our dog was broken.

We have Newfies, Bigger, fluffy, Labradors. They retrieve anything and leave a pint or two of drool all over it, effectively claiming the object and ending the game.

Not half as smart as the Black Lab version.
