I HATE when inspiration hits & there are no “tools” nearby! One time I was at work, heading to the caf for a cup of tea. I had gotten my tea when I was hit with an inspiration for a poem for a friend of mine whose son was coming home from the armed forces. I literally RAN back to my desk so that I could get it written down!
I have a “Space Pen” in my pocket when we go out. (At home – have pens and pencils in kitchen on first floor, in basement and in our office on the second floor – also out in the garage which serves as husband’s woodworking shop. (I cut up paper which was printed on one side but had errors, to use as scrap paper and pieces are in the office, in the kitchen and in the basement so there is some paper and all 3 locations also have pencils and pens.
My first “smart phone” was a Palm Centro – which was also the best of them. I still use it for non-telephone purposes including calender, todo list , phone book, and lists for things in the house as I don’t take it out with me – and it syncs with Lotus Organizer on the Windows XP “side” of my Windows 10 office computer . (Also have Xp “side” to my Win 11 laptop, but have not been sync the Palm with same, only to transfer the Organizer data into Organizer on same.)
I use my latest Android for basically the same information by adding same by hand to it. I have a different “notes” program for this phone. It has lists of what we need to buy, information for when shopping (such as which size buttons and how much fabric I need if he needs new breeches made for reenacting) or what color paint our vehicles are if we need to for touch up, or which bulbs we use in which light fixture (LED bulbs do NOT last long at all), or anything else I need to remember when we are out.

So…… Walk home and add more ideas to the ones you already have. And then start writing.

Do people ACTUALLY keep notepads by their bedside in case they get a good idea at 3AM and don’t want to “Lose it”?

Isn’t that the way it seems to go sometimes?
