5\10. Seen this kind of gag many times. Also Nate reads newspapers regularly for the funnies, Peirce.

Who else is left wishing that it were Francis, not Teddy, who got smacked with the newspaper? He’s been so insufferable recently that it would have been well deserved (remember the trampoline?) Seeing Teddy being hit by Nate, however, leaves something of a bad taste.

Didn’t this also happen when Nate borrowed Lord of the Flies from Dad in order to squish a bug?

Newspapers have gone digital in recent years!

Just buy another yogurt.

Last time that I bought a Newspaper, it was full of ads on top of ads and very little substance. I used to really enjoy the paper too! Shame.

Strip rating: 10/10 I’m just looking at Teddy’s face. Lol. Is that the face you’d make if a brick fell on your head?

Doof is the perfect descriptor for Nate.

I was offended and disappointed by the Big Nate cartoon on the Comic section of the August 27, 2023 Oregonian showing a person “doofing” another (black) person with a newspaper. Gratuitous violence is offensive and is not funny or entertaining! I was disappointed that the writers could not think of a more creative and less violent (even funny) response to getting sandy at the beach. I was disappointed that the Oregonian would assist in normalizing and promoting interpersonal violence.

Gotta think (hope) the seagull in the opening panel is a nod to the Seagull (capital S) who appears in every episode of “Wallace the Brave.”

Odd, that “doof” is “food” spelled backwards. And it’s about yogurt. Coincidence? You decide.

So I guess now it’s a sandpaper!

Alright. Valid reason.

To be fair, Nate, you were the one who brought yogurt to the beach.
