What a coincidence, I was just thinking of cold fusion and 1989. Of course, I just watched the 33rd first annual Ig Nobel Award ceremony. Happy trails!
As it was explained to me, the 2nd letter in fission is “i” for “in”, and the 2nd letter in fusion is “u” for “up”. At least I think that’s what they were trying to say.

Not so cold, I’d say.

If you’re using Uranium Hexafluoride, it’s fission. If you’re using tritium, it’s fusion. How hard can that be?

Good thing he’s a cartoon character, or he’d be hot radioactive garbage.

If Monty can’t develop cold fusion, he’ll just have to settle for confusion.

Well, my father was in a group that worked at cold fusion AFTER the Fleischmann Pons whole affair, and their assumption was similar to Monty’s.

If there is no blue radiation plasma and no dead physicists, it didn’t work.

I made fusion in my kitchen once – I crossed Mexican cuisine with Chinese cuisine…

if that reaction can be slowed down and made to last longer then it could still be very useful

Ka-Blam! You’re in the wrong strip! For explosions of this kind – and pancakes – read Rip Haywire!

Monty’s research skills are da bomb.

At least he’s still alive to talk about it and write his research paper. Won’t solve the energy crisis but still might make him a fortune…..

He’s in a constant state of con-fusion.

Hexafluoride is for the centrifuge. Dioxide is for the fuel rods..

Monty is a menace to humanity! He should not be allowed to play with potentially thermonuclear toys!

unusually confusing comic… both nuclear fission AND nuclear fussion generate similar explosive ability… did he make a mistake here??
