Been there and (not) heard that. Spouse says she replied. I say “not so I could hear it”… she says that’s MY fault. Of course about 75% of the time if I just tell her something she makes no acknowledgement at all. And if I check, about 50% of those times she really only heard a mumble which she ignored. And she’s okay with that, but not with ME doing it. (This growing old together thing isn’t for sissies!)
And old “Dennis the Menace” – mom is on the front porch calling Dennis home for dinner. Calling, and calling. Finally the kid arrives and says “Sorry mom, I didn’t hear you the first three times.”
A friend of mine just got hearing aids. I can’t wait for our next time together. We can actually have a normal conversation again! I was becoming aware of having said things to her that she would have answered in the past, but her face would show nothing. I have been raising my voice for years when we get together.

Soup is an appetizer. Earl doesn’t need his appetite stimulated, he’s already hungry.

Best advice about hearing—talk to me—not the stove or the refrigerator or the tv remote—talk to my face.

Men do tend to have a higher rate of hearing loss than women.
