Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Okay, but what book are they reading? Maybe the book should have been awkwardly held up so we readers could see the title, even though itâs completely irrelevant to the dayâs strip.
Is this Generic Blonde Woman someone weâve seen before this week? Itâs so hard to keep track of them all. (Actually, wait, do we even care who she is?)
The entire point of a book club is to voluntarily read a book and discuss your opinion about the work with other people. How would a sub do that for you? A sub wonât have your brain or your life experiences to formulate your opinion on your behalf.
You know, at this point Iâd actually rather watch the movie âBook Clubâ than follow this arc for another two days, but Iâm sure Batiuk is building up to something dramatic. Thereâs no way he would waste an entire weekâs worth of strips on Lillian and company making non-jokes and talking about everything other than the ânaughtyâ book theyâve been trying to plow through for three yearsâŚis there?
Welcome back to book club gag-a-day. I knew the blonde would be asking the questions today. Itâs a roundtable discussion (albeit without an actual table). Iâm going to go out on a limb (a real sturdy one) and predict itâs the Shining Twinsâ turn tomorrow.
Lillian, a nonagenarian or centenarian, plays tennis⌠ya, sure! Does she also jump the net when she wins? Sheâll break her hip.

Why does a book club need bylaws? Isnât it just an informal gathering of pseudo-intellectuals trying to impress other people?

One must ask, why would you keep mercilessly plugging Ulysses?

If you miss a meeting you have to order lunch? Thatâs an odd rule even for this strip.

So in the absence of Crankshaft, blonde lady will play the role of the brain damaged person?

Is the green shirt woman a sub for Crankshaft? Is that why heâs not here?

Ulysses was the most boring book I ever read.

Iâd never miss a meeting of the Lilliopsaurus Book Group. I mean, Iâve never gone to one, but Iâve never missed the experience either.

Isnât âUlyssesâ something like 500 pages long? I am wondering how small the print is in those thin books that they are holding.
