Me too. And non-presidential officials, elected or appointed. It’s very strange to me to understand that full adults can feel “anything is okay as long as I/we win.” And that includes whether or not they obey the law, much less the strictures of moral / ethical behavior.

In fact, strike that “strange”. It feels very very BAD.

GQP mantra: Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing. (Attributed to Vince Lombardi, but actually first used by Harold “Red” Sanders, coach of the UCLA Bruins, as long ago as the 1930’s, according to Wikipedia. Interesting that his nickname was Red, the favorite color of the NotSee Fashist party)

In 2022 alone, the US encountered the highest number ever recorded of illegal immigrants at the US southern border. This represents a 200% increase from former President Donald Trump’s last year in office in 2020.General Michael Flynn, who has personally witnessed the problem, describes the situation under Biden as a “mass invasion” that is “out of control.” Despite this ongoing crisis, the Biden administration appears to be doing everything it can to exacerbate the problem. In full denial, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claims, “The president has done more to secure the border and to deal with the issue of immigration than anybody else. He really has.”Under Trump, Americans saw the lowest rate of illegal immigration in over 40 years.Under Biden, we have seen the highest rate of illegal immigration over 60 years.Biden notoriously ended Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, which forced foreign nationals seeking to enter the U.S. through the southern border — illegally or without proper documentation — to be returned to Mexico.Joe Biden is singlehandedly responsible for the chaos at our southern border and independents will vote accordingly.

…and the party of the president convinced him to resign for the good of the country. We are approaching the half century anniversary of the Saturday Night Massacre, which was the blow that ended the Nixon Administration.

In answer to the cartoon: When was that? One, count ‘em, one president resigned, and only when a delegation of Senators from his own party told him that the votes to convict were there. That was when Republicans— some — put national interest above that of the party.

Nixon never(and I mean never) felt shame. He only resigned because he was told he would be impeached AND convicted in which case he would not only be removed from office but lose all benefits such as pension/Secret Service protection.

The same comment could be applied to many current pols. They show the demeanor of the mob, shouting out insults and childish comments, and some wear clothing designed to make them stand out, when it only makes them looks silly. They have nothing of the gravitas of former representatives of the US and certainly none of the educational background. They do not demonstrate respect for the US Constitution, their offices, or their functions. They lack the appropriate respectful manner for dealing with their constituents or foreign dignitaries.

As Pogo once iterated: We have met the enemy and he is us.

Here’s a blast from the past. One of the whistleblowers, who claimed Justice Department, FBI and IRS officials interfered with the investigation into Hunter Biden, said earlier in the summer that Hunter invoked his father to pressure a Chinese business partner while discussing deals. IRS Criminal Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley oversaw the IRS probe into the president’s son and said the agency obtained a July 2017 WhatsApp message from Hunter to Harvest Fund Management CEO Henry Zhao showing Hunter alleging he was with his father to pressure Zhao to pay him $10M.“I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” Hunter wrote in the WhatsApp message to Zhao, according to the documents. “Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Hunter wrote.

‘Defense counsel’s nightmare’ Trump incriminates himself every time he talks: attorney

Legal experts this week are continuing to pile on former President Donald Trump for incriminating himself during an interview on “Meet the Press” this weekend, and some are telling Salon that he makes his conviction more likely every time he talks.Jamie White, a defense attorney based in Michigan, tells Salon that Trump is making his lawyers’ jobs impossible when he does things like say that it was his call to blow off legal advice given by attorneys he’d hired because he didn’t “respect” them.

And yet the Orange Traitor, indicted with 91 felony counts, something like 36 are for espionage, not only won’t leave, Corporate media is allowing him to lie unchallenged, giving him free campaign advertisement. Challenging his lies the next day, when no one is paying attention, does not undo the damage. One thing lying Repubs know, is their base will grab onto the lie and ignore the facts. Which is why they keep doing it over, and over again. It’s been FOX news format for decades, and other right wing ‘news’ sources have taken up. Lie at prime viewing times. Have small bottom of the screen retractions at low viewing time. Ridiculous.
