    when I had a daily commute there was one place I went by that had a shallow pond in it, the water fowl loved it. Then one day it was gone. The stream flowing into and out of it seemed to have worn away pond bed and it collapsed forming a deep gully and now that same area is a grass covered meadow with what looks like a 3 foot deep trench in it where the stream flows.
