Not quite correct. Their direction has been clear for years. Straight towards extremism and chaos. They’re just fighting over who gets to be the lead idiot.
Chance to increase knowledge. Port and Starboard: Starboard is from “Steerboard” which is the rudder that the Vikings and others used, mounted to the side of the ship near the rear. Since most everybody is right handed, the steerbord was mounted on the RIGHT side (if you’re facing forward). And port: Naturally you’d avoid tying up to the pier/dock on the side that had the steerbord, so the port side is opposite to the starboard side.
As for whether the thuglicans understand this: Who cares? They’re not gonna use it anyway.
When you are strongly opposed to a democratic government of the people, by the people and for the people, and you start excluding those you don’t like to divide/destroy it… you must be very wary — as you too can be excluded by this pointless/directionless policy.
Rudderless-and brainless. Moderate republicans (yes, there are such sensible people) have begun to realize that their republican party has been lowjacked.
It only takes one Representative to call for the Speakership to be vacated. Those are the rules of engagement agreed upon at the beginning of the term.
If they want to change the rules, they have to have another vote to recind/edit them. That has not been done . . . yet.
So any speaker elected is subject to the same 1 Rep can trigger a Vacate Vote rules that McCarthy was kicked out on.
Any RWNJ bozo that manages to squeek by can be kicked out by all the Democrats and 6 or more Republicans.
Any compromise candidate that gets elected by all the Democrats and 6 or more Republicans is immune to a Vacate Vote because the Democrats will act to save him/her.
So who is really in charge of the House, in the face of the Chaos Caucus?

They may not have a rudder, but they have Trump as an anchor.

Don’t know where we’d be if the rudder had been invented and the Steerboard wasn’t.

Now try steering with a captain who has no practical experience and only wants to run the ship aground because he hates it.

The Republicans may be rudder-less, but they’re still ruder.
