Jets are cheaper than trains now.

At my age I’m cane-set.

To get the jet instead, she could simply say, “That’s a good idea. A train IS more romantic”…

And by train-set, he means H-O gauge.

Nowadays the train ride costs more than the jet ride

That’s me but mine is a slow train, it’s been going in circles for a long time now and it derails from time to time.

More like boxcar set.

We’re blessed in my country with extremely good, efficient, and cheap inter-provincial bus transportation, which more than compensates for the fact that we have no rail system (other than a tourist train) and poor to virtually non-existent in-country air transportation.

Hand me down my walking shoes.

About the same cost, here in the US. Pathetic but true.
