Banned books make great holiday gifts (whichever holiday(s) you celebrate).

Also, a suggestion for teachers: banned books make great reading lists.

The “Moms for Liberty” book club would operate more like a campfire, with the flames at a minimum of 451°F. The title of Ray Bradbury’s famous novel against censorship, Fahrenheit 451, is based on the fact that 451° Fahrenheit is the temperature at which paper, as in books, burns. Ironically, it is one of the most frequently banned books.

The book “The Hate You Give” reminds me of the signs I see when I walk or ride around on my bike. Hate has no place here, except for Trump, his supporters, White men, Christians, and Conservatives". And yes, Phoenix, this is a joke, so don’t ask where I saw these signs.

Fifth book from the right on the second shelf: The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I had to read that in high school. Good old Hester Prynne, let’s party!

The only “liberty” those “moms” want is the ability to prevent anyone from learning to think for themselves, be able to read and evaluate information, and decide that censorship of the masses leads to tyranny, autocracy, and a very ill-informed electorate, Fahrenheit 451 and Animal Farm are now banned in some schools in Florida (not certain about other states).

In 1498, the Church fought to keep the Bible from being printed. The Inquisition stated that it was impossible to translate the Bible from Latin Vulgate, with parts in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, into a modern language of the time without making mistakes that would cause new converts to question the one true faith. Attempting to print a translation was called heresy and punishable by burning at the stake.

When the people in charge wish to avoid uncomfortable questions, questions that challenge their power or precepts, they attempt to ban those books. Moms for Liberty is one such group. Their tyrannical approach and attempted censorship must be fought by all of us.

Is “Slaughterhouse 5” on their list because it is a semi-fictional first-hand account of the U.S. military burning down a strategically unimportant German city, just before the inevitable end of the war…just to prove they could? I know I would hate to have missed reading that book.

We need to stand up to the book banners, there’s more of us who support the freedom to read “challenged” books than those that would ban them outright. But if we just sit back and watch as they turn out at school board meetings and town meetings, they will continue to get the attention.

If memory serves, the reason why “Gender Queer” is being challenged is because it’s a graphic novel that includes uncensored depictions of sex acts and people kept finding it in school libraries.

Whether people like to admit it or not, this actually is a book that’s age-inappropriate.

Basically, if you can’t read it aloud or show the pages in a school board meeting, there’s a question to be asked as to how it can be appropriate for a school library.

Quite a display of titles. In library school we learned if 20% of your collection didn’t offend someone, you weren’t doing your job. Easy to say but hard to put into practice.

Republicans Accused Of Downplaying Jan 6 Because Their Supporters Are Dumb

Lofgren began by saying Republican lawmakers “think their supporters are dumb.”

“These posts by Republicans come after new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said on Friday he will release all 44,000 hours of January 6th security,” she added.

“When asked for comment from NBC a spokesman for Senator Lee dodged the question about the man with the vape or the E cigarette and then listed questions about other rioters.”

“You were part of the bipartisan congressional panel that investigated the insurrection. You studied this day thoroughly. What do you say back to your Republican colleagues?”“Well, I’m really embarrassed for them. Many of them were evacuated along with me. They know that this was not a normal day of tourists visiting. They know that more than 160 police officers were injured, some so seriously that they had to leave the force.”

“They know that hundreds of these rioters have been convicted by a jury of their peers because of the overwhelming evidence. I guess they must think their supporters are dumb, that they will somehow convince them that what happened didn’t happen. You know, don’t believe your lying eyes. It’s really pathetic.”

Unless people vote the Republican Party out of power, all power, they will burn the USA down and recreate it a dystopian nightmare.

Jailbird, wife beater, thief, liar and traitor Trump’s republican buddy pardoned criminal Steve Bannon warns a USA general.

Steve Bannon Issues Ominous Warning To Mark Milley

“We’re gonna hold him accountable,” Bannon said.

“We don’t know the form yet or how charges are going to be filed, but this guy is not going to get away with this. It was treasonous.

Trump said in September that it was “an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act.”

Bannon is also set to stand trial in May next on separate money-laundering, fraud and conspiracy charges in New York related to the “We Build the Wall” campaign. Bannon has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors allege that Bannon falsely promised people that donations would go toward building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, but the money was used to enrich Bannon and others involved in the project.
