A woman had to go to court to get permission to have an abortion because the child would not live and there was a chance if she carried it, she would not be able to have another child. I guess judges are more important than doctors when you are pregnant.

Got a relative who moved to Texass to manage a restaurant. She and her family work 12 plus hrs. a day, 6 days a week nonstop. Wages average $20 plus/hr.. Whites drop in to get their unemployment cards signed that they are looking for work, but don’t show when hired. The one white guy who hired on as a cook refused to take directions from any woman. Even dinner orders. This psycho, which my family members say is typical for Texass, suddenly tore his own shirt to shreds while fixing meals, screamed obscenities at everyone in the place, and stomped out. The only dependable, hard-working, and competent employees are from, you guessed it, south of the border. Texass, bastion of white privilege and home to a lot of just f*cking nuts.

I doubt that the Texas GQP cares whether this woman or her fetus lives or dies. They’ll just consider any deaths to be collateral damage. After all, this is a state that has executed several innocent persons. What’s one or two more deaths to them?

Unfortunately, the once secular US is being turned into a minority cult’s authoritarian theocratic vision of society, solidified by approval from an irrational — out of touch with the public — right-wing, unelected, majority SCOTUS. Whatever happened to the proactive progressives who were once able to moderate and protect us from the excesses of conservative dogma?

There is a place where the conventional law says a woman can have a termination to protect her life but… the religious elite can over-rule the legal system because their interpretation of the religious texts say this termination is evil and so it is better she dies.

So the religious elite will ensure the termination is forbidden.

From the perspective of any culture based on compassion, this would be seen as wicked.

But this is not a Sharia law theocracy, where termination in this case would be permitted. It is Texas.

    Wow.

The religious elite in Texas are even more strict than the religious police in Iran.

If only they cared as much for the living as the not yet born, they would appear less immoral …

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 10.4 percent of American households experienced hunger in 2021. These states have the highest percentages of American households who experienced hunger: Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Missouri.

There are plenty of wacko’s in Texas. Let’s try this one on for size.. And remember, she’s from Texas. “The Heritage Foundation loves Texas. … They always sending us some nonsense bills that somehow set this country on the wrong trajectory. They send them to Texas. They send them to Florida. Every deplorable state that we can think about they usually coming out of y’all’s think tank.” —Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX)

The GOP has become the Christofacist Taliban and is in control of Texas and many other red states. Just because they are clean-shaven instead of having beards, and they wear suits instead of perahan tunban, don’t be fooled. Under these fanatics, women are property, LGTBQ will be outlawed, and, in Trump’s own words, camps will be built to house non-white immigrants – Trump’s final solution for what he calls the “poisoning the blood of our country.”

Don’t believe for a minute that you are safe if you live in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, or Georgia. Their goal is a nation under Trump as a dictator, where your local state protections can and will be wiped away.

    Don’t let them succeed.

2024 is a call to arms for everyone who believes in women’s rights and democracy. Your weapon is your vote! And your battlefield is your local polling place. The maga black-shirts are afraid of you and won’t make it easy. They will try to erect barriers to prevent you from voting against them. However, they cannot match our numbers. The great democracy experiment that is the United States cannot be allowed to fade into the night.

For those not familiar with the term; yellow was used to describe people who were mulatto or interracial. Emily West Morgan a 99 year indenture to James Morgan played a key role in the fight against Mexico. On the morning of April 21, Houston climbed a tree to spy into the Mexican camp. There he saw Emily preparing a champagne breakfast for Santa Anna, and reportedly remarked, “I hope that slave girl makes him neglect his business and keeps him in bed all day.” The Mexican army was caught completely by surprise, and Santa Anna was literally caught “with his pants down.” Emily West Morgan survived the battle and returned to New Washington. Two days later, James Morgan, who had not heard of the battle, returned from Galveston, and Emily told him of her ordeal and the outcome of the last great battle. Colonel Morgan was so impressed with Emily’s heroism, that he repealed her 99 year indenture and gave her passport back to New York – the final chapter of which we have no record. We do know, however, Morgan made certain everyone knew of Emily’s heroism. He told everyone he encountered or anyone who would listen and recorded the story in his journals. Morgan “kept a running commentary on Texas affairs with Samuel Swartwout, one of Houston’s friends in New York City.” He also told his story to an English friend and ethnologist, William Bollaert, who recorded the story in every detail.

We need a federal law that makes it illegal for politicians to interfere with the medical care of women; and the death penalty if their interference causes the death of mother or child.

Anti abortion laws kill, maim, and destroy women’s lives. Which, of course, is OK with the Republican Party. In fact, it’s why they do it. After all, they support and back the terrorists that attacked the Capital on January 6th, 2021 in order to install their very own violent lunatic orange dictator.

Hillary was wrong, there aren’t just a few deplorable that vote Republican, it’s a requirement to be deplorable and/or delusional to vote Republican. There is no other explanation for people willing to vote for fascism and to lose their and everyone else’s hard earned freedoms.

This utter debacle in Texas has shown that every single talking point Republicans have used on abortion is a lie. Every last one.1)Every baby (they mean fetus) is sacred. This poor fetus isn’t going to survive either before birth or within a day or two after birth. It’s a 100% guarantee.2)We need to increase our birth rates so we need to end abortion. This woman wants desperately to have a 3rd healthy child. She says they’re going to try within months after getting the procedure. However, this whole thing may leave her infertile if she can’t get it done so clearly having another healthy kid doesn’t matter to Republicans.3)We don’t want to have a total ban on abortion! We’re reasonable. If you won’t approve of one in this situation, you absolutely want a complete ban, and you wonder why absolutely no one believes you when you trot out “Oh, we’ll do a 15-week ban.” as you did in Virginia.

What this is is the oldest, most virulent Puritanical BS I’ve ever seen. That’s the “Oh if something bad happens to you, you must have ticked off God/committed an awful sin so he’s smiting you.” that should have been left in the 1700s. This was a bad roll of the genetic dice, nothing more. Any woman voting Republican after this hates other women more than Andrew Tate does. You might as well send your measurements in for the red robes and white bonnet because this is Handmaid’s Tale stuff, and it is going to get worse if Republicans win next year.

Oh and maternal and fetal deaths have skyrocketed since Roe ended, but that’s the point in Republican Fascist World.
