I’ve actually wondered, for the more famous artists, if there are any surviving sketches from when they were very young and just starting to learn. If there are, it’s probably for the more recent artists, 19th century or later. It’s hard to imagine there being anything left that Leonardo drew when he when he was eight. But I don’t know.
