A long time ago, my mother bought a wire-haired terrier from a breeder.. Turns out the dog had the mange… skin all red and super itchy — NASTY STUFF! .. cost her a mini fortune in vet bills, with little to poor results…
An old farmer in the area took one look at the dog and said she had the mange… but my mother had to go to the vets, right?. . . At first, they told her it wasn’t the mange, and sold her meds for one thing and another – nothing helped.. eventually they took a sample of skin scrapings and sent them off to be tested.
By the time they got the results, the dog had been cured by a remedy the old farmer had given her..
Mange is a term for skin conditions caused by a species of mites in certain animals, such as dogs and cats.
Humans can catch mange from dogs, but the mites involved cannot complete their life cycle in human skin. As a result, the issue can cause some skin irritation in humans, but it does not last long.
A different species of mite causes ‘mange’ in humans. When these mites affect people, it is known as scabies. And needs treatment.

I wonder why there is an outhouse in the middle of that doctor’s office, and why Ole Mac is sitting in there with his jeans pulled up.
