I’d ask for a definition of the word “near,” but it would kill the punchline.

In my old hometown there are now so many everyone is within easy walking distance of one.

It’s odd here. White folks will speak Spanish to the staff at the local Mexican restaurant and pretend to be all friendly then after dinner leave the restaurant in their truck with MAGA and Trump stickers all over it. I’ve seen it happen more than once. It’s puzzling.

In Fort Bragg, CA when I lived nearby, there was a sushi restaurant with Mexican chefs. The food was terrific. Nothing magic about being Japanese. :)

Give me a good taco truck, or a strip mall joint where only the cashier speaks a little English. Chain restaurants don’t do it the same.

What do you mean English cooking is terrible? I’ve eaten in many fine restaurants in England. Of course, they were all run by Indians, Italians, Pakistanis, Indonesians, Mexicans, Ethiopians, etc., but still …

Never did get a taco truck on the corner. The closest one in almost three miles away.

My local is called The Mazatlan. It sits right on the bay. With big bay windows. The food is great, and so is the view.

I count 6 within walking distance. One was a taco truck but is now landed.

my buddies and i were among those who spent so much time downing margaritas on the terrace at our favorite mexican restaurant, one of the few in tokyo, that the owner, a very serious type, moved to a less accessible location nearby in an effort to lose the riff raff. it had less space and no terrace, but still had margaritas… ☺
