Oh, wow, didnât Dead Skunkhead John knock that one out of the park! (For those who donât know, thatâs a Funky Winkerbean reference. May as well get used to those as Crankshaft fades into the night.)
So, an omnibus collection of The Atomâthe fourth hero DC revived in the Silver Age, star of his own series throughout the â60s, and a member of the Justice League of Americaâmarks the end of S.A. âstrip miningâ? I think that day will come when they put out omnibuses for Ultra the Multi-Alien, Millie the Model, Little Lotta in Foodland, and The Adventures of Bob Hope.
Oh, and DSH John? Most comics aficionados already recognize this as the Modern Age, following Platinum, Golden, Silver, Bronze and Copper.
Omnibus collection? What? Iâm supposed to know what that is? No I will not do a search. Enough obscure comic book references. It was bad enough when Funky disappeared for weeks in his strip. Now we hardly ever see Cranky and when he is featured he is not allowed to speak. I try (I think) to poke fun here without being mean âŠ. but âŠ.. Oh well âŠ.. Nuts!
So did Skunkhead take the time to move that K-2SO statue back there between yesterdayâs strip and todayâs, or does he have two of them? Because thereâs no way the one we saw yesterday could be in the same spot as the one weâre seeing today. I guess Davis is really proud of that particular art swipe and wants to show it off as much as possible?
Shouldnât Jeff be mocking Mitch about his lack of knowledge of comic books in front of Dead Skunkhead? Or is that behavior reserved for the women folk, i.e., Pam?
The fifties were the Golden Age of Comics for me, and the majority of the sixties. Then came war and service, and I put away my toys. until I turned 50 and Dark Horse comics for Staar Trek
In the good old âFunky Winkerbeanâ days on the Comics Kingdom, we used to ridicule the hand gesture Dead Skunkhead made in the third panel. Is he pointing up because âHeâs making a pointâ? Is Dan Davis stealing Chuck Ayersâ artwork from âFunky Winkerbeanâ?
Does anybody here point up when theyâre making a point in real life? A goofy thing to do, if you ask me.

Whereâs Mitch? I havenât seen him since he entered the store.
Hereâs hoping he takes after his Great-Grandfather, Ed Crankshaft, and has started a fire.

So are we going to get six days of comic trivia rambling ending with a âjokeâ calling themselves old? Sounds awesome.

There have been multiple reboots of the DC continuum, Marvel, at least two. Maybe theyâll call it age of confusion.
