Here in Germany there is a new brand of supposedly high quality dog food. I kid you not, the name of it is BARF. They have been doing more and more advertising for it.
Always wanted the 64 count of Crayola Crayons when I was a kid (the one with the built in sharpener). All my parents would buy me was the 24 count. Thinking back, 24 colors was plenty.
I remember ‘coercing’ my Mom into letting me get the ‘large, special carton’ of crayons (with the sharpener) and all the colors—don’t think I ever used half of them ! ! !
I remember getting my first box of Crayola crayons with 64 different colors. Burnt ochre and flesh being two of those colors. Circa 1950 before you comment.
When I was in 6th grade I was the class tempera paint color mixer. The school provided white, black, red, blue, and yellow powder. I knew the color wheel and the teacher was desperate for ways to keep me busy.
Not really, Calvin. Barf comes out in a wide variety of colors. I oughta know. I got freaked out for a split second last time because I thought I puking blood. But then I remembered what I ate.
I remember when some of the colors were reverses of each other. Like you had red-orange and orange-red, blue-green and green-blue, blue-violet and violet-blue, etc. The thing is, when I took Art Appreciation in high school (required, not a choice), we had to do a color wheel (using only the primary colors). The teacher was telling us for colors like red-orange or blue-violet, you used more of the first color listed. But with Crayola, it was the opposite. The orange-red was more red. I think that one might be labeled as scarlet now. All of the bi-colors were like this. And violet-blue is indigo now. I think dandelion is the old orange-yellow. Silver doesn’t color as well as it did when I was younger.

If only Mr Watterson could color these comic strips in particular.

I actually remember trying that with my markers when I read this strip as a kid.

Remember to draw in the diced carrots. Whenever someone chucks, there are always diced carrots in the mix.

It is hard to get a standard color in a black-and-white strip.

What kind of crayon set does Calvin have? Crayola has never had yellow ochre or lime green.
(I googled “64 color crayons” and got a complete list, but I can’t post the URL here.)

Calvin is a real Vincent van Gag.

He’s doing a great job blending the colors. I always suck at doing that.

Why would somebody in their right mind want puke-colored crayon?!

I read this one as a kid and while most of the colors made sense to me, I got the feeling that if purple is in your barf, you’ve got some issues….

The vomit crayon always goes missing first. Sad.

That’s a big set? That’s puny compared to the Crayola stadium set.

Calvin is wasting time on this instead of math, spelling, critical race theory and phonics? No wonder he doesn’t fit in at public school.

Reminds me of the gag stores that sell fake vomit. It looks just like the real thing. Makes you wonder how they did the R & D

Some colors don’t belong even in the 64 color box of crayons.

I once asked my “Art Appreciation” instructor why artists didn’t work in Crayon. He told me that it was because the colors won’t blend.
