Nope. Politics is just one of the latest and most obvious symptoms. Look back about 100 years ago when there was an event that marked a major milestone in the poisoning of religion (or rather, Biblical Christianity specifically), which had provided the foundation and common ground of our country/civilization. Evolutionism killed America.
News themed entertainment programs are not aired to inform. They are conducted to make money. To do that, they sell advertising. They need to keep you watching to keep their ratings and income up. Ever hear, “More details later in the program”? Or, “Film at eleven”? We could tell you right now but we won’t.
Last night in the moments my thoughts were adrift, and coasting a terrace approaching a rift….O well, perhaps this will cause these guys’ souls to ignite…
Buffalo Springfield had it covered in 1966 with their song, “For What It’s Worth.”
“There’s a man with a gun over there.Telling me I got to beware.” 33% of Republicans believe that political violence is acceptable. Will we have men armed with AR-15s in Walmart camouflage gear and MAGA hats at the polls in November to assure “Election Integrity?”
“There’s battle lines being drawn. Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong.” Bipartisanism is dead. “if the bipartisan border bill is defeated, blame it on me,” Donald J. Trump.
“A thousand people in the street. … Singing songs and they carrying signs. … Mostly say, ‘Hooray for our side.’” THOSE people (murderers and rapists, or vermin, or those who are out to “poison the blood of our country”) are always out to get YOU.
“Paranoia strikes deep. Into your life it will creep. It starts when you’re always afraid.” Republicans preach fear.
I picked up a copy of the New York Times on Sunday, and read articles by KellyAnne Conway and Nicholas Kristof. You would be hard pressed to find more politically diverse individuals in the same news paper. The NYT is probably the least biased, and most fact filled paper, and it provides opinions from the entire political spectrum That is what MSM does. My only disappointment is that in Canada I have to pay $14.42 for the Sunday times.

No matter what caused the rift, if filled with current political rhetoric, it would give off the same odor as if it were filled with cow patties.

The needs more people standing on both sides hurting insults and personal attacks against each other.

Looks like ignorance and the work of Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News industrial grade demagogues caused most of the riff.
