Just remember, most of the fuel spent in rockets is to get out of Earth’s gravity. Since Mars has little gravity and the space station will have even less, you wouldn’t use much fuel especially if you didn’t have to circle Mars after takeoff. It’s why most sci-fi shows have everyone building their ships at a spaceport, not on a planet.
