“She saw me sitting there with my stool tipped back against the cigarette machine and change of a fin on the bar, decided I could afford a wet evening for two and walked over with her hips waving hello.” — Mickey Spillane, The Big Kill, 1951
“Samuel Spade’s jaw was long and bony, he had the chin of a Sea Otter and the mouth of a Giant Salamander. Nostrils? He had two of those. His had one grey eye and one lazy blue one that rolled around, all by itself. Thickish eyebrows ran across his face from one floppy ear to the other. His pale brown hair hung down— a Moe Howard haircut—half covering his forehead. He had a weeks worth of egg and ketchup on his tie. He was a peculiar fellow, to say the least.”
First paragraph of “The Maltese Puppy” just a rough draft.
“She walked through my door like a tigress walks into a Burmese orphanage — strawberry blonde and legs for hours. No dame her age could afford a coat like that, and the kinda makeup she had on gave me a good idea how she got it. She had bad news written on her like October of ’29.”
My hypothesis is that somewhere between 8.1% and 22.4% of comic strips are based on familiar stereotypes, but further research is needed. I’m looking for grant money.

Shoo her in, Effie! (Bogart, as Sam Spade, in ‘The Maltese Falcon.’). Beware, Miles Archer.

Hmmm, it smells fishy. The 1979 issue is The Savage She-Hulk, not She Hulk… It could be once again a misleading case.

She had legs that went all the way to the floor, and a case that I wanted very much to open.

The word is spreading. I’m afraid it won’t be long before Monty gets into trouble by going against Disney. There is no escape from them.
