Does the questioning of my sanity count?

Both my sons were perpetual “but why” machines. It’s a critical step in critical thinking.

Why not?

Me missus does it all the time… Ask her a question and she answers with a question… Like, if I ask her what the weather forecast is for today, she’d answer, “Didn’t you see it?”

That a ‘chain’ question, She won’t get to school on time today.

“Because.”

Question authority but be sure to raise your hand first.

My answer to that was always “Because I said so. End of discussion” Prepares them for working in a full time job. “Yours is not to ask why. Yours is to do it and shut your face.” lol

She’s whys beyond her years.

Because I said so.

“I’m the authority here, just do as I say!”

So you don’t make the mistakes I made.

Why not?

This is the same as saying “don’t learn from other people’s mistakes” and NOT the same as being reasonably skeptical.
