It’s called selective listening. She should’ve come in and told him the groceries are in the car, go bring them in and put them away.

I’m afraid Brutus’ listening is much like Gladys’ adhering to a fixed budget.

We’ve always called it selective spousal deafness.

Great thing about getting old is you can use that excuse in do many different situations. I love it. Keep it up big guy it only gets better…..

Not so much not hearing or listening, but obeying.

When one considers that Brutus’s three primary sources of auditory input are his wife, his boss, and his mother-in-law, one can’t blame him for developing highly selective listening as a defense mechanism.

Or, if Brutus is like me, he’s hard of movement.

Brutus would not be called to dinner in my home. He might be asked to do the dishes, though. Eventually he would catch on.

My wife and I have long agreed that we each only hear half of what the other says — and that’s one reason we’ve been happily married for nearly 39 years.
