Young folks probably figure that being old will be different by the time they get to that stage, so why bother learning about what itâs like to be old now?
A young person who is both lucky and patient will learn first hand what it is like to be old. No point in hurrying the lesson, but I am enjoying the experience, hoping there are still several more chapters to go. Over 30,000 pages so far.
I do envy the ability of youth to obtain knowledge instantaneously.
When I was a youth we either had to trudge to the public library or, if we were fortunate enough to have them in our home, look up the information in the encyclopedias.
Now all a kid has to do is punch an app on his phone.
As a youth, one yearns to be older to be able to do things that grown-ups do. Grown ups, on the other hand, wax nostalgic about the things they did and times they had when they were young!
Getting old can turn you into a wiser or more bitter person. As for the young, Google isnât going to solve their problems. It often exacerbates them.

Thatâs not the same as actually experiencing it.

Every elder is a living history, easily accessible with the right questions and interest. A resource too often passed over as âdated.â

I turned 70 this month. Trust me when I say that I feel great to have made it, because so many of my friends were not afforded the honor.

If young people Google being old, they either wonât believe what they see or will need therapy to deal with what is awaiting them.

I think asking an old person would be far superior to whatever you might get from Google.
