It would take the average kid about 2 minutes to do the sheet we saw yesterday. Spud could have done it himself as fast as he copied in Wallace. (And probably done a better job… Area 51 is not a national landmark, Paul Bunyon is NOT a historical figure, and don’t get me started on the other two questions. One hopes Wallace was trying to be the class clown and hadn’t given any thought to his answers.)

Grak!! As far as I know this is the fist time Wallace and Spud have had detention!

Innocence busted – like the time my younger brother and I (maybe 8 years old?) walked into a college campus cafeteria, and helped ourselves to a single serving box of cereal each. We saw the students walking out with food, so we did, too. A man stopped us and lectured us about stealing, but it kind of went over our heads, as we didn’t realize we were. Plus he let us keep the cereal..

Poor Spud.

I hope there’s space for them in the detention room. It’s probably full of Amelia’s stuff.

I wonder if Spud is going to pass out.

The worst thing a teacher could do to a student—taking away recess from them.

She hates to say it because she will have to stay inside with them instead of a brief respite outside chatting with other teachers.

I realize you can’t make the kids stay after-school for detention but stifling a 10yr olds energy release time is crazy. Send their parents an email.

recess detention is a terrible idea. Usually, the kids who get it are the ones who most need to blow off steam at recess. Keep them inside, sitting, and you’ve built up a powderkeg that will explode in the afternoon.

A more usual punishment/adjustment would be to separate them. They would feel that deeply.

Zeros for both papers……punishment enough!!!!
