I’ll have to settle for looking at a picture of my father’s marker at Arlington. It’s nice that you can look someone up and they show you a picture of the marker. I did visit in person once, shortly after his death. I think it was on May 8th, which I think was a special day there. My mother joined him there later. My brother and his wife are also interred at Arlington.
Neither of them (father and brother) were killed during a war like Red’s Uncle Jimmy, for which I am most grateful. It makes Red’s visits all that much more poignant.
Red’s visits always remind me of the visit by Klaatu and and Bobby to the grave of Bobby’s father at Arlington in the original 1951 film of “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

I love that Rover is saluting with his ear. Always glad to see the real meaning of Memorial Day commemorated in this, or any, comic strip.

I like Red and Rover sharing a bath in the first panel as they also share the inflatable pool in many summer strips.
