No, you don’t want to try and bunt on a 3 and 2 count, Rose. If you miss or foul it off, you will strike out. But, more importantly, if the pitcher doesn’t want to walk you, chances are you’re gonna get a good pitch to hit.

I thought I knew enough about baseball to get by, but I don’t really get this joke.

In high school I couldn’t hit but I knew the pitcher couldn’t pitch. I walked 90% of the time. Not that it makes a difference but this was at an all girls high school. I’m guessing it would be true with boys too.

Is there a way to re-arrange your comics page? I want Wallace at the top, but I’ve added several more since discovering him, and they’re first. Just wondering.

Fake it till you walk it. But proudly half-trot to first base.

Hi, everyone! You may know me from the Wallace the Brave trivia questions. Well, I’ve just created a new game! Welcome everyone to the WALLACE THE BRAVE CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE STORY! That’s right, I have created a story where YOU get to meet and interact with Wallace and the gang.

How it works is this: after each part of the story, there will be choices on what to do next, and whichever choice gets the most votes will be selected and the story will take a different path. Without further ado, let’s begin!

You just moved to Snug Harbor, and you’re spending your first night there skipping rocks in a pond in the woods. You came here hoping for a moment of peace the day before the chaos of starting 2nd grade at a brand new Elementary school. Obviously, you were right. The only sounds you could hear were the chirping of crickets and the soft splish-splashing of your rocks against the surface of the lake. Besides, who else would be in the middle of the woods on a school night?

THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. The pounding of footsteps against dirt catches you off guard, and they are quickly approaching.

“KEEP GOING! IT’S OVER HERE!” yells a young boy. You jerk your head in the direction of the noise and your eyes meet a brown-haired boy, likely about 6 or 7 years old.

“O-oh” he pants. “We thought you were a sasquatch.”

This brown-haired boy is accompanied by two girls, and a fourth boy seems to be trailing behind.

“OH MY GOD! HOW MUCH FURTHER? WHY AREN’T WE RUNNING AWAY FROM IT? I DON’T WANT TO DIE!” yells the fourth boy, as he frantically pursues his three companions.

“Spud! Don’t worry, it’s not big foot!” responds the brown-haired boy.

Spud, which is apparently the name of this fourth boy, trips and collapses in a pile of sticks.

“No, we’re totally gonna die. Keep running,” remarks one of the girls. She has red hair and is holding up a camera, documenting Spud’s fall.

(The story continues in the replies!)

Rose overthinking something. Who would have guessed? Next time step out of the box and check the signs then step back in when you have decided.

Contrary to popular belief, the batter has no say as to where any pitch is going to be located. Sure, the batter can lay off any pitch out of the strike zone, and foul off any pitch, but how is the batter—-the batter, mind you—-going to “work the count” to 3-2, or 2-2, or even 1-2, if EVERY pitch is the strike zone? No can do, it’s impossible. It is therefore the pitcher, not the batter, who works the count.

There is no comic better than Wallace and same goes for those of us who comment — kind, observant, clever. That said there are a few comics like Crankshaft which are decent comics but the commenters constantly excoriate the strip and its creators. Glad there is this oasis to retreat to.

Rose needs to think ahead of time what she’s going to do on a 3-2 pitch. At least eliminate some options.

I love her intent look in Panel 1. But the perspective’s weird—it looks as if she’s going to swat the catcher’s head right off. Good thing she didn’t swing.
