Cocktails are not a good way to cope, in the long run drinking makes matters worse.

Now THAT is my kind of manual for being an adult. I bet thereā€™s a recipe for espresso martinis in there.

Alcohol will make some people who are old enough to drink it act the way they did when they werenā€™t old enough to drink it.

Since Iā€™ve retired, my alcohol usage has dropped to maybe one drink a month. Maybe itā€™s the employers that feed that need.

Alcohol is seen as a coping mechanism, but often leads to addiction.

Using alcohol to cope is a good way to get rid of all those other little annoyances, like family, home, money, friends, and gainful employment.

Itā€™ll be about 105 degrees this afternoon. I wonā€™t worry as long as my gin and tonic (and ice) hold out.

Easy to cope. Just go to your local hardware store and get a coping saw.

Most problems are transitory. So if you just wait a bit ā€“ about the time it takes to make and enjoy a cocktail ā€“ the problem will take care of itself. If the problem is still there then the cocktail (if it was a good one) will have put you in a more relaxed frame of mind and better positioned to tackle the issue. Trying to tackle a problem while you are worried and stressed is not a good starting point as the bad emotions will start a negative feedback loop.
