and once again, as history which we learn not from, repeats itself as mankind seeks to destroy everything including himself due to ignorance, not surprised. MAGA folks say it always gets hot in the summer and it is just a weather cycle…kinda like that ice age thing.

So what’sa big deal. The first day of Summer will be June 20th, 2024. Wear short sleeve shirts, wear some shorts and drink plenty of water. I seem to recollect that Democrats always cry about how hot it gets during the Summer, but they’re always silent during the Winter. I believe that unhappy Democrats have a strong dislike for warm and Sunny days.

Trump and his ilk still claim it is a hoax. And that Obama was not born in America to an American woman. And that the 2020 election was stolen.

That is like the people who ban books from libraries (that haven’t been checked out since 2011) to keep children from reading them. Smart move, forbid something to keep them away from knowing about it. From the great state of Florida where dumbness can’t be out done.

The GQP could get their way, use high sulphur coal and waste motor oil in every power plant. Then as the planet is dying, crops are all extinct, they will blame it all on the “radical lefty liberals” and their cultists will believe them.

DeSantis – and his gop predecessors – has scrapped the state’s climate goals. – Politico

Project 2025 – the heritage foundation’s plan for a trump government – Trump and his political allies are prepared to take a sledgehammer to US climate and environmental policies. While Trump wines and dines with oil and gas executives, a proposed policy agenda put forth by dozens of right-wing organizations threatens to squander the narrow time window we have for climate action and actively fan the flames of a world on fire, climate scientists and advocates warn.Sierra Club

Google: How Republicans view climate change and energy issues

“Republicans tend to emphasize economic factors when considering climate policies. For example, 69% say a very important consideration for them in any climate policy proposal is keeping consumer costs low, and 61% say the same about increasing job and economic growth.”

Instead of running around like Henney Penney, I’m planning on adapting. I’m amazed at the most adaptive creature on earth is refusing to change.Moved my family away from the coast and bought a hundred-acre farm inland. Everyone thought I was crazy. We’ll see who crazy in fifty years when my kid are 80% self-sufficient.

If we end up with 95% carbon dioxide (green house gas) in our atmosphere like the planet Mars NOW has, will the earth have global warming, or minus 85 degree temp (average) like on Mars?… So which is it?

The greenhouse gases CO2 and CH4 elevate the global average temperature. Removing them lowers the average. But here is the kicker than the ignorati never seem to understand. Water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas on Earth. But unlike CO2 or methane, water vapor saturates. As the amount of water vapor at a given temperature increases, it reaches a point where it precipitates from the atmosphrere (rain and snow, ya know).

As air temperature is lowered, the water vapor in the air decreases because saturation is reached at a lower concentration of water vapor. This means that when you remove methane and CO2, which leads to cooling, more cooling happens as less water vapor is sustained. Remove enough CO2 and methane, so that the average global temperature falls to the freezing point of water, and you start forming iceball earth. Remove all CO2 and methane, and the global temperature would be -18C. Of course, the polar regions, receiving less sunlight regardless of atmospheric content, will freeze out first.

At the coldest point in the last few ice ages, the CO2 level was about 182ppm. (Its over 415 now). The temperature changes lead CO2 changes contrary to not-a-scientist Al Gore.

The temperatures fell because of lower solar insolation in the northern hemisphere. After the temperature started to fall, microbes produced less CO2. Less CO2 decreased temperatures further. More snow on the ground meant more reflected sunlight and less infrared emission.

When after tens of thousands of years, the solar insolation increased, temperature went up and so did microbe production of CO2. More CO2 helped increase the warming. Less snow on the ground meant less reflected sunlight and more infrared emission.

CO2 in the atmosphere scatters the infrared emission from the ground, distributing the energy into the atmosphere in all directions, instead of letting the energy propagate straight out to space. “Greenhouse” is an analogy, not a prescription.

As for Mars, it is so cold because the atmosphere is thin. But it got that way because its water vapor precipitated out as rain and then snow. And once the temperature is cold enough very little water vapor will form and reenter the atmosphere and virtually none will remain there for long. If we increased the CO2 in Mars atmosphere a bit more, we could get to a point where water vapor could remain in the atmosphere, and further raise the temperature. But the solar wind and the low gravity work against increasing atmospheric density. Could we have a “Green or Blue” Mars as per Kim Stanley Robinson’s books. Possibly. For human life to flourish, we would also need to get nitrogen and oxygen into the atmosphere. Oxygen is relatively easy because of all those iron oxides. Nitrogen may take more work.
