How prescient! I just had this conversation with my daughter yesterday. In 2008 she came home from high school and said our phones were listening to us. I asked her why she thought anyone would listen to average people’s conversations. About 10 years ago I realized she was right! This is not new.

TV remotes also. The ones you talk to.

Why would a Phone spy a jerk like you?

If it’s not Alexa spying on me it’s Siri. On occasion my Apple Watch starts talking hearing my conversation. Just wait until AI takes over and suddenly Skynet becomes very real along with Hal

It does monitor for certain keywords, that’s how it knows to answer when you say “hey Google” We have had incidents where we are discussing some item we need. Then later we miraculously start receiving ads for that item.
